A local insurance company had a training center that needed some updates including equipment upgrades and a more user-friendly interface to control the room.
We kept all of the equipment in the facility that we could integrate with the update. We strive to never have a customer upgrade their existing equipment until it is called for, unless it isn't compatible with the new updates and can't keep up with enhanced performance. As a result, the in-ceiling speakers, microphones, video conferencing codec, podium, and PC were all retained and integrated with the new control system.
To run the room, we went with a Crestron Control System, which operates through the use of a new 15" touch panel. The screen on the touch panel is more intuitive and user-friendly. A new Crestron switch was installed to handle video routing to the new projector, monitors, and video conferencing system. Digital transmitters were placed at the podium to connect local video sources back to the equipment rack for switching.
For audio, two new digital signal processors were put into the rack to handle microphone sound mixing, and for teleconferencing. A Crestron amplifier was also added to the rack.
Power conditioning was also added to help protect the equipment in the rack.
For the new projectors, we had to use a slightly unique method of projection due to space constraints. We mounted the new short-throw laser projectors onto mirror bases. The projected images bounce off the mirrors and onto the projection screen. This way, the bulky projectors don't even have to be in the room, and the lack of distance required for rear projection was overcome in a creative way.
In the end, the entire system received reprogramming to fit the needs of the users and make the room simple and straightforward to use.
