EPB Boardroom
With Crestron Upgrades and Networking
About This Project
EPB needed a refresh to their boardroom to improve performance, so we replaced their existing control system with a newer Crestron System that would control everything from lighting to Audio/Video to shades. Since this was an upgrade, we were able to use some of their existing equipment without having to replace everything.
We used their existing rack to house the new equipment, and we placed the new processor there. We were also able to integrate the iPad they already had and use it as an interface for the control of the lighting, A/V, and shades. We then added a wireless access point to the equipment rack room to provide a dedicated network connection for the iPad.
In order for everything to run properly, we needed to do some additional wiring, so we ran new plenum grade Cat6 wires from the equipment closet in the Community Room, which already had a Crestron System in place, through the drop ceiling to the boardroom's equipment rack. We connected this data line from one closet to the other to allow the two Crestron Systems to work together to properly control the lighting.
This worked well, since the people who would be using the new system were already well acquainted with how to run the Crestron software, so minimal training was necessary, and they were able to get up and running quickly.
