Chattanooga Real Time Intelligence Center
Mission-critical video wall and monitoring for city operations
About This Project
The City of Chattanooga's Real Time Intelligence Center is where analysts watch the city's camera network, maps, and live feeds around the clock, and the room's video wall is the tool they work from. The original wall of eighteen monitors had reached its limit, so we replaced it with a 27-display Planar wall, three rows of nine 55-inch monitors, with a trim kit that finishes it as a single surface across the front of the room.
Video processing is a Planar Matrix G3 system with new power supplies and cabling, mounted in the existing closet rack. It takes the six analyst workstations, through the center's existing Extron converters, and three cable boxes, and places any of them anywhere on the wall at any size. A Planar representative led the commissioning: calibrating every source input, aligning the seams and images, matching color and brightness across all 27 displays, and saving up to ten layout presets so the team can change the whole wall with one selection.
The analyst desks were moved to new positions in front of the wall, and their power and data were run under ADA-compliant floor covering so the room stays accessible with no exposed cabling. The result is a wall that reads as one enormous map or a grid of dozens of feeds, depending on what the shift needs to see.
