Ruby Falls Skyline Loft
Event venue AV at iconic Ruby Falls attraction
About This Project
Ruby Falls' Skyline Loft is a third-floor event space with hardwood floors, a wall of windows over the city, and round tables for weddings, corporate dinners, and receptions. The attraction asked us to add sound, video, and simple control that any event host could operate, and to tie the room into the building's existing paging system so announcements still reach guests.
Audio is distributed through sixteen Crestron Saros pendant speakers hung across the ceiling, chosen after the original in-ceiling design proved a poor match for the open ceiling, and driven by Crown amplifiers with a Biamp TesiraForte DSP that balances the room and mixes in the paging feed from the existing Q-SYS system. A wireless microphone system with a handheld and a lavalier serves toasts and presentations.
For video, a 113-inch screen drops from a recess in the ceiling in front of a 5,300-lumen Sony laser projector, with the projector's audio routed into the DSP so a slideshow or a video plays through the overhead speakers. An HDMI wall plate on the column nearest the screen takes a laptop or any other device, and an Extron control keypad above it handles projector power, screen up and down, and volume.
The electronics sit in a small slide-out rack inside a cabinet at the back of the room with its own power conditioning, invisible to guests and easy for staff to reach.
