Role Model Camp
Simple presentation system.
About This Project
Our customer who owns a studio on their property that serves as a role model camp and multipurpose space needed a video presentation system and several A/V upgrades to make the space more user-friendly.
First, the room needed a projection system, so we mounted an Epson projector on a pole attached to one of the ceiling's cross beams. For the screen, we went with a 16:10 diagonal, 133" motorized screen because it needed to be retractable to not interfere with the catwalk when it was being used.
For video sources for the projection screen, there are five, including a new Sony Blu-Ray player, and a new AppleTV. To control the five sources, we installed a Control4 Entertainment and Automation Controller that we tied to a 7" in-wall touchscreen, as well as a handheld remote control so the room can be controlled from anywhere in the room.
The audio output from the projector, the Blu-Ray player, the new wireless headset microphone, and the Control4 wireless music player were all connected to a NEXIA 10-channel digital mixer and a 70-Volt amplifier. We then mounted six JBL sound-reinforcement on-wall speakers on the side walls.
The studio needed its own network, so we setup a wireless network with a gigabit router and an 8-port network switch for the wired connections to the equipment.
To control the lighting, we installed four Control4 wireless dimmers. The panel is on the wall beside the touchscreen. One of the dimmers has a series of shortcuts that allow for pre-determined lighting scenarios to be selected with a touch of a button. These scenes can be reprogrammed at any time if the needs of the customer change.
The studio's upgrades and enhancements allowed it to be more user-friendly, efficient, and up-to-date.
