Understanding "No Signal"

When your TV displays a "No Signal" message, it means the TV is not receiving video from the currently selected input. This is usually a simple input selection or cable issue.

Step 1: Check the Input

  1. Press the Input or Source button on your TV remote
  2. Cycle through inputs (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, etc.) to find the one with your content
  3. If using a Control4 or Crestron system, the input should switch automatically — try selecting the source from the app or remote

Step 2: Check the Source Device

  • Is the cable box, Apple TV, or streaming device powered on?
  • Does the device have a status light indicating it is active?
  • Try pressing a button on the device's remote to wake it from sleep mode

Step 3: Check HDMI Connections

  1. Unplug the HDMI cable from both ends and reseat it firmly
  2. If using an HDMI extender (Binary HDBaseT), restart both the transmitter and receiver by unplugging for 30 seconds
  3. Try a different HDMI port on the TV if available

Step 4: Power Cycle Everything

  1. Turn off the TV
  2. Turn off the source device (cable box, streaming player)
  3. If you have an HDMI extender, unplug it
  4. Wait 30 seconds, then power everything back on starting with the source device, then the extender, then the TV

When to Contact Smart Systems

If the "No Signal" issue persists after trying all steps, the HDMI cable, extender, or matrix switch may need replacement or reprogramming.
