Symptoms
- One area of your home/office suddenly has no Wi-Fi
- The AP's LED is off, solid (wrong color), or blinking
- Your management app or controller shows the device as "disconnected"
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check power — Is the AP plugged in? If it's PoE (Power over Ethernet), check the switch port and cable. Try a different port on the switch.
- Check the Ethernet cable — A damaged cable between the switch and AP will take the AP offline. Try swapping the cable.
- Restart the AP — Unplug power, wait 30 seconds, plug back in. For PoE, disable and re-enable the switch port.
- Check the network switch — If the switch lost power or rebooted, all APs connected to it would go offline. Verify the switch is on and functioning.
- Check for IP conflicts — If two devices have the same IP address, one will be unreachable.
When to Contact Us
If an AP won't come back online after a power cycle and cable check, it may need replacement. We monitor managed networks proactively and often catch these issues before you notice them.
