Acoustically Treated Home Gym

A customer, whose house we had already worked on, providing whole home automation, approached us this time to come up with a solution for his basement space that had been converted to a home gym. The gym was also being used to record personal fitness training videos for clients. The acoustics were less than ideal for this purpose, and there was a tremendous amount of echo that was interfering with recording these videos.

To solve this problem, we ordered custom flat foam acoustical ceiling panels. The ones we chose had a glue-on application style and were ideal for rooms that have drywall or concrete ceilings. These foam squares are lightweight, fire-rated melamine foam, and they softened the echo greatly as well as improved the overall acoustics of the room. As you can tell from the pictures, we ordered panels that would blend in with the ceiling and not detract from the look of the gym. The end result was a space with far less echo, making the gym much more pleasant and user-friendly.
