# Security Monitoring Lab

Multi-screen security monitoring station for real-time surveillance

## About This Project

A healthcare company's security operations center needed to watch many feeds at once and rearrange them in seconds, from a single operator position, without a control room technician. We built the room around a 4x2 video wall of eight NEC 55-inch ultra-narrow-bezel displays mounted high on the wall above the desks, with a Salamander Designs low-profile credenza beneath it holding all of the equipment.

Sources are distributed over a Kramer AV-over-IP system with eight encoders and nine decoders: six desk positions, each mirroring the operator's right-hand monitor onto the wall, the video management server, and a cable box. From a 10-inch Kramer touch panel on the wall, an operator sends any source to any single display or recalls a preset that groups displays into a larger image. The system was designed with preset layouts rather than drag-and-drop, which keeps it fast and predictable during an incident.

The wall's audio was tied into the room's existing amplifier and ceiling speakers, selected and controlled from the same touch panel, and a Netgear AV switch carries the video traffic on its own network. Cabling was run in plenum-rated CAT6 to keep the installation compliant in the open office ceiling.
